Music Bittorrent Downloads
is it illegal to download music from limewire and bittorrent, or is it legal, and why?
I need to write a paper about why ti isn’t illegal to download music from Limewire, and need good points to justify it, Thanks
It is illegal to download from these sites because you do not pay for the music.
The artists of a song always hold the rights to their work and – when the song is released – they are legally due money from all the sales of their song. No piece of music can be sold without the artists making a profit.
Sites like limewire are not about “buying music” – they’re sold to us as being file sharing sites, but it’s the same principle and it’s still illegal (just as it is illegal to burn a CD to your computer and then pass the CD onto a friend.)
If you had to argue that it wasn’t illegal though – that’s still a good argument, that it’s not purchasing the music but sharing the files with other users.
