The evolution of rap. Any thoughts?

Many people say that “rap isn’t what it used to be”. But all genres of music evolve, do they not?
-Latin music isn’t ‘La Bamba’ anymore.
-Country music isn’t ‘Your cheating heart’ anymore.
-Pop isn’t ‘Everybody do the twist’ anymore.

I respect new and old artists alike. I enjoy Biggie’s music and Soulja Boy’s music. I use them as an example because although they are two completely different artists with two very different styles, I think they both contribute well to rap music.

This is just my personal opinion but I think the older generation who has grown up and identifies more with older hip hop artists from the late 80s and early 90s should understand that rap can’t be the same as it used to be. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying older music but trends in music constantly change and there’s no need to undermine the newer styles.

What’s your opinion on the changes that have taken place in rap music? :)

i actually agree with you. although i think the music industry now (not just for hip hop) has kinda loss good original ideas. that is why there is so many artist sampleing so many old songs. and also today i think the industry is to lienient in finding really good creative artist. alot of the artist in the business are either all the same or they are just a average guy being “made”. but i see that times to change and there is nothing anyone can do about it. things will not be the same forever. so everyone should enjoy and embrace thier time of music they grew up on and just let the current generation enjoy thier time now like the older generation did during thier time.
