Working aboard a Cruise Ship?
I am a Pianist who is classicaly trained (plays classical music) up to grade 8 but I can also play Jazz music as well as Latin, Rock, Musicals and more.
I am off to university in september, and next summer (when you get 3 months vacation/holiday) I would love the chance to get work experience on a Cruise ship (really a British one because thats where I live). I’ve been on the new P&O cruise ship ‘The Ventura’ and love going into the bars to hear the cocktail Pianists play some Jazz or music from the musicals. I wouldnt want to work full time on a cruise ship once I leave University in 3 years time but, when I hopefully get my dream job of being a music teacher I belive that saying I worked on a cruise ship looks good on your C.V.
What do people think about it.
Cruise Ship experience is terrific. You might find yourself loving it so much it will become your career, rather than teaching music.
Or you can combine the two!
Work during the cruise ship season; teach the rest of the year.
It’s also excellent part-time employment when you reach retirement age
